The Bat Mitzvah of Tilly Never, a gathering of the Clinton-Never family and our Kol Ami family this past Shabbat, seeing Tilly speak so beautifully from the Bimah about how we pursue a more just world, gives us hope that our youth understand the need for a more just world, and are willing to do something about it.
While we were celebrating Tilly’s Bat Mitzvah, thousands of Kansas Citians hit the streets to march, and to fight against the injustice, to support each other, and not let fear and despair paralyze us from acting to make a more just country a reality. Read more.
This Week's Torah Portion Parashat Vayikra (Vayikra/Leviticus 1:1-5:26)
This week, we begin a new book of our Torah. Vayikra/Leviticus begins with the rules surrounding the sacrificial cult and leads to in a few weeks-the holiness code. It is a move from how we relate to G-d to how we relate to each other; our interpersonal relationships. While in our part of the Jewish world we are not vying to bring back animal sacrifice, the different types of sacrifice give context to how we as imperfect humans relate to a G-d of redemption and how we work to better ourselves and our world.
