Virtual Shabbat Blessings At 6:45 p.m. Friday, February 28, on Zoom, we get together to make Shabbos with Shabbat blessings. This is always a great opportunity to be in community, and to get more comfortable with the blessings and rituals of Shabbat while having Shabbat dinner at home. For the Zoom link, click here.
Daily Service A reminder that every weekday morning from 8 to 8:15 a.m., we start our day with a short Shaharit morning service, along with an inspirational reading and a quick study of the daily page of Talmud. Please join us. For the Zoom link, click here.

Rabbi's Week in Review
This week will be the final weekly Kol Ami newsletter with Deborah Hirsch as our editor. The newsletter has had an enormous impact on our Kol Ami community. It has kept us informed. Of greater importance, it has kept us connected as a Jewish community at a time when staying connected has become increasingly difficult.
This Week's Torah Portion Parashat Terumah (Shemot/Exodus 25:1-27:19)
We read this week of the exhaustive, detailed specification of the Mishkan, the Holy Tabernacle. The Mishkan was the means by which the Israelites drew closer to the Divine Presence, but we know that we do not always need a physical structure to make that connection. We have the potential to bring G-d in wherever and whenever we come together as a caring, supportive community.
Upcoming Kol Ami Worship Event
Purim Celebration and Uganda Stories We look forward to a very special Erev Purim celebration this year. Amongst the many Purim themes is the example of Esther as how to live as Diaspora Jews — Jews living outside Israel.
We will begin with our Purim service and the Purim story in Megillat Esther. We will then learn of a modern example of courageous living as Diaspora Jews with the story of the Abayudaya, the Jews of Uganda. With both pictures and story, Fay and Rabbi Doug will share their experiences traveling in Uganda to meet with these special people as they live Jewish lives in remote, rural, subsistence communities. As a bonus, Fay and Rabbi Doug will share their time spent with the mountain gorillas.
We will gather at HJ’s Youth and Community Center (6425 Wornall) at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13. We ask anyone who has a good Hamantaschen recipe to bring some of the cookies to share. Pizza and drinks will be served. Please RSVP to engagement@kolamikc.org.
