Rabbi's Week in Review
As we have celebrated the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week, there has been a good deal of discussion about King’s legacy. He looked toward a future with hope, and we still are looking toward that future.

This Week's Torah Portion Parashat Va’era (Shemot/Exodus 6:2-9:35)
We read this week about the hardening of Pharaoh's heart. We question what causes some who are put in leadership positions, in positions of power, to harden their hearts — to govern without empathy and compassion, and to be OK with people living in fear.

A Note About Migrant Farmworkers By Pat Clinton, Kol Ami president
Migrant Farmworkers Assistance Fund director (and Kol Ami member) Suzanne Gladney is concerned about the migrant farmworkers she and her organization serve. MFAF has plans in place to help them in multiple ways, should the need arise. Let us make sure we are the partners MFAF needs to shelter the strangers in our midst, and help by donating blankets, small pads and pillows for bedding, should that become necessary. There’s no call for help now, but I will let you know through email and the newsletter if that changes. Thank you.
